Earlier this week the New York
Times published it recommendations for 52 places to visit in 2019 and rightly included
Cádiz
and its province. Now the New York website Vinepair is recommending readers to
visit the Marco de Jerez which is top of their top ten essential places to
visit. Tim McKirdy, the author, expresses surprise that Sherry “still” isn´t as
widely appreciated as some wines despite being a favourite of sommeliers and experts
who consider it one of the best wines in the world if not the best. The Guia Peñín certainly does. He goes on to say
that it offers the “complexity and ageability of premium white wines at a
fraction of the price” but that its numerous styles can be difficult to navigate.
A visit is therefore essential and he recommends various bodegas in Jerez, Sanlúcar
and El Puerto de Santa María, all of whom will be delighted to help with those
navigation skills. There is no doubt that the area has an incredible variety of
attractions with lovely people and lovely food and most certainly is a must-visit.
