Lawyers working on behalf of Hacienda (Inland Revenue) is
asking for Jose Maria Ruiz Mateos, his son Alfonso and three others to be
jailed for seven years for irregularities in the sale of two fincas (estates)
owned by Garvey. The case involves evasion of corporation tax and VAT. Furthermore,
the accused have to put up a total of 3,100,000 to indemnify Hacienda if found
guilty, which is quite likely.
