The Consejo Regulador has revised upwards its
estimation of the yield from this year’s harvest to 68 million kilos. Barely a week ago it was estimating
62 million, but the absence of the hot, drying Levante winds and generally very
favourable milder weather means a bigger crop. The harvest is now all but
finished, except for a few coastal parcels at Chiclana and Chipiona, mostly
Moscatel, and all should be over by the 23rd. The quality is very
good, and the sugar levels quite high with an average of 11.7 Beaume.
