Jerez has passed on the European City of Wine baton to Reguengos de Monsaraz in Portugal which will be the 2015 European City of Wine (ECW). Reguengos is in the well-known quality wine region of Alentejo. The mayor of Jerez, Maria José Garcia Pelayo, congratulated the Portuguese and said that the ECW had done a lot of good for Jerez, remarking that there was a definite “before and after” and Jerez was the second most talked about wine in the media.
